Open Day
It makes sense to visit musical theatre colleges or universities that you're interested in. You are about to commit to two or three years of musical theatre training in one place, so you need to make sure it's right for you.
Most musical theatre colleges will have Open Days where you can:
- See musical theatre course facilities
- Learn about the detail of the course
- Get a sense of whether you will like it there
Trust your first impressions and your gut reactions!
Open Days for musical theatre courses usually take place in the autumn around October, and are advertised on the websites of colleges offering musical theatre courses. You will probably need to book a place for the Open Day direct with the college through their website.
During the musical theatre course Open Day you are likely to be given:
- a guided tour of the building
- information from teachers about the course
- maybe a meeting with some current students
The students' views will be really useful, so do ask them what it is actually like on their musical theatre course.
Make sure you go with some questions, particularly about anything you think is not clear from the college's website or prospectus.
